Zhengyang Pedestrian Street
Zhengyang Pedestrian Street, surrounded by restaurants, hotels, theatres, stadiums, commercial facilities and scenic spots, is one of the most prosperous streets in Guilin, with the good location in the city center. The whole length of this street is 666 meters (this length is adopted as in Chinese the number of six suggests a good luck). The architectures here are mostly in the style of ancient Chinese architecture with characteristics of folk buildings in the north of Guilin and embossed works of Guilin landscape; and some of them are classical European style buildings. This is a place with both the style of the Yangshuo West Street in the south and the flavor of Beijing Temple Fairs in the north. The red bell tower in the center of Zhengyang Road is the most striking symbol of the pedestrian street.
Xicheng Road Pedestrian Street
The Xicheng Road Pedestrian Street is the second pedestrian street for relaxation, shopping, delicacies apart from Zhengyang Pedestrian Street. The buildings along the street are in ancient styles. Here you can find different kinds of food, handicrafts, home furnishings, jewelry, and other fashion commodities.
The former Night Market Street on Middle Zhongshan Road has been relocated on Jiaotong Road and changed its name to Xiangshan Night Market. Connecting to the Xicheng Road on its south, the Xiangshan Night Market offers various choices, such as handicrafts, local specialties, small commodities and folk snacks.
Yiqian Pedestrian Street
Yiqian Pedestrian Street is an old street well known for noodle transactions. Before renovation, the cries for selling the noodles could be heard in nearly all streets and lanes in Guilin. The renovated Yiqian Pedestrian Street imitates the style of the Song Dynasty and now enjoys various functions such as business transactions, relaxation and entertainment, as well as parking. It is a good choice for tasting different special flavor delicacies.
Binjiang Road is a sightseeing road by the Li River. Some famous attractions of Guilin, such as Elephant Trunk Hill, Fubo Hill (Wave-Subduing Hill) and Folded Brocade Hill are all close by. Walking along the Binjiang Road, you can feel the pleasant breeze blowing from the river while appreciating the fabulous night scene of the Liberation Bridge. Along the street also stand many KTVs, bars, cafes, and tea houses.
