As China’s southernmost city and a tropical international tourist destination full of natural beauty, Sanya is fast becoming the destination for golf in Hainan. With two world-class championship golf courses, the Mystic Springs Golf Club, located on the northeastern edge of Sanya, will offer you one of the best golf experiences on the island of Hainan.
Designed by world-renowned golf course architecture firm Nelson & Haworth, the 36-hole golf course, covering an area of 150 hectares, is divided into two 18-hole, 72-par courses: the Mystic Course and the Springs Course, with a fairway length of 7,175 yards and 7,442 yards respectively.
The layout of the golf course features mountain and water, and preserves a large portion of the natural heritage of the terrain. From high vantage points in the area, the Haitang Bay and the Wuzhizhou Island can be admired in their natural splendour. The biodiversity within the golf course is also conserved and protected as well as integrated into the design of the course. Tropical gardens, fruit and flower orchards populate the natural outcrops of the land, whilst the courses themselves sprawl across undulating terrain that boasts up to an elevation of 183 meters (600.4 ft), creating an unforgettable experience for all golfers.
Besides, “The Devil’s Bend”, a loop of three holes on the Mystic Course, is worth mentioning. It is so named because of both the striking beauty and great difficulty. The Devil’s Bend begins with the Demon Hole – #3 of the Mystic Course, a signature hole at Mystic Springs. This hole is the talk of every golfer who comes to play Mystic Springs and has fast become known as one of the most challenging hole in the world. Many people have already come to challenge “The Devils’ Bend”. Would you like to join them to conquer this unique hole?
The club also has extensive facilities, such as driving range, pro shop, restaurants, banquet room, sauna, massage, and VIP superior suits, and so on. The Mystic Springs clubhouse covers a total area of 10,800 square meters. The exterior of the building is like an ox lying amongst mountains; and ox is a symbol of fulfilment and sincerity in Hainan’s culture.
The Hainan Mystic Springs Golf Club was awarded the top 6th golf club in Hainan Province in 2011 and becomes known as the ‘must-play’ golf course in Hainan.
